Thursday March 22nd, The Llantwit Major Gem:
All of the staff at Elaine's Tearooms
worked especially hard on Friday 16th March to raise money for Comic Relief. Everybody dressed up as clowns and entertained passers by and encouraged vehicle drivers
to beep in support for their cause.
At 12 o'clock Councillor Bob Hutchinson (Deputy Mayor)
arrived for the "Cream a Councillor" event which saw him act as a target for cream pies from the public. Bob had kindly agreed to offer himself as a Pie Shield to help Elaine's
Tearooms raise money for Comic Relief and, apart from one or two potiential nose-breakers, he was not harmed in the attacks.
Elaine's Tearooms would like to thank Bob for his charitable donation and great enthusiasm in helping to raise money whilst looking a mess and smelling quite bad. We would also like to thank Councillor Russell Downe (Mayor) for joining in the fun, creaming Bob and eventually offering himself as a Pie Shield. When we have added up the money in our buckets we will let you know how much was rasied. We are also expecting donations by post from people that couldn't make it to the Tearooms today, incuding AM Jane Hutt. Most of all, we would like to thank everybody that donated money today and helped to cream our Councillor!
